Practising the law of your home jurisdiction in New Zealand

If you are a foreign lawyer who has been admitted as a barrister, solicitor, advocate or attorney in your own country and you intend to practise only home jurisdiction law in New Zealand, you don't need to be admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, nor will you be regulated by the New Zealand Law Society.

However you will be subject to general consumer protection law in New Zealand and must comply with Part IV of the Law Practitioners Act. In particular, you must not act or hold yourself out as qualified to act as a barrister and/or solicitor nor may you operate in partnership with New Zealand lawyers.
